Howz one of six companies selected by Bupa to be part of eco-Disruptive programme for reduction of carbon emissions
Bupa, the global healthcare company, has announced Howz as one of the six start-ups that have reached the final stage of its global talent and sustainability innovation program, eco-Disruptive. This program aims to identify and support entrepreneurs pioneering solutions to address climate and health challenges.
More than 1,000 start-ups from around the world expressed interest in the program, and this number was narrowed down to a cohort of 18 and the six companies selected now share their solutions with the Bupa teams worldwide.
Howz are working with Bupa to assess how Howz’s remote behavioural monitoring can reduce carbon emissions from healthcare through keeping people safe and well at home.
Howz service is evidenced to prevent avoidable health emergencies from vulnerable people, lowering the number of hospital admissions, ambulance callouts, care home admissions and inpatient stays in acute care settings. Each of these has corresponding savings in carbon emissions, with total savings in the region of a staggering 2 million tonnes of CO2 a year.
As part of the initiative, Howz are working with Bupa on a project into remote monitoring could help tackle sustainability challenges in real-life settings, including Bupa clinics and hospitals – with potential for longer-term collaboration to help Bupa deliver on its net zero by 2040 target, while ensuring customers continue to receive high quality healthcare and services.
In turn, Bupa colleagues learn from the agile approach start-ups take to problem solving, and benefit from their innovative thinking to help address sustainability challenges facing our business and the planet.
